Romano, 29, told Assistant Crown Attorney Stephen Kim that the man with the gun was Oliver Carafa.

Friday marked Romano's second day on the stand.

Carafa, 29, and his girlfriend, one-time “influencer” Yoon Lu “Lucy” Lee, are now on trial for first-degree murder and the Feb. 28, 2021, slaying of Romano's fiancée, Tyler Pratt, 39. and Romano's serious injury at Stoney Creek Industrial Park.

Both pleaded not guilty.

The two couples became fast friends, and Pratt, a former cocaine dealer, sought a more legal lifestyle for himself, Romano, and their unborn child.

But what emerged instead was an alleged plot to defraud Pratt of drug profits.

According to Romano, on February 24, Pratt and Romano had a breakfast meeting at their Yorkville condo. Pratt was flying to Vancouver that day for his daughter's birthday.

Romano said the couple agreed to meet at an industrial site on Arvin Avenue in Stony Creek for a marijuana venture.

“Lucy said, 'Oh, my mom has this pantry and she doesn't even use it.' Oliver said, 'Yeah, we can use it,'” Romano recalled, adding that Carafa boasted that he had 12 weed licenses in Ontario.

The night before, Romano says Lee and Carafa brought a bottle of booze to celebrate their friends' new apartment.

“The bottle and their glasses were there after I was shot. I told my dad to throw it away,” Romano said through tears.

Romano said she and Lee talked about baby shower plans during their visit. Carafa and Pratt discussed the weed business, she said, adding that her husband wanted to bring his daughter and baby mother to Ontario to work with her father and brother.

After her young daughter's birthday, Pratt was flying home in time to meet Lee and Carafa in Stoney Creek on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, Romano testified.

Pratt and Romano were directed to enter behind 347 Arvin Avenue in the gloomy industrial district of Stoney Creek, Romano testified. Romano says Lee's mom didn't have a realtor when they arrived and Pratt wasn't happy.

Romano said the quartet then tried to enter the building, but it was locked. Romano was cold and climbed back into the couple's Range Rover.

Soon after, Lucy Lee joined the car with Romano sitting in the driver's seat, according to Romano's testimony.

“He was sitting there on his phone,” Romano said. “He said, 'Oh my God, you're dressed so nice and I'm dressed like a bum.'

Lee said he made dinner reservations for four at Soto Soto in Oakville. According to Romano, neither Lee nor Carafa were dressed for a nice dinner.

“(But) when he gets in the car, he can't even look at me,” Romano said. “Then he got out of the car. My car was off, so I slid into the driver's seat and turned it back on.'

Suddenly, Oliver Carafa glared at her through the passenger side window and pointed a gun in her direction.

“I couldn't move, I couldn't speak. My mouth fell open. He's pointing a gun at me, he's shaking and his eyes are bulging, and then he says, “Get out of here!” said.

One of the last things Romano remembers is hearing gunshots.

“BANG!” BANG! BANG! BANG! “, he recalled.

Romano said Pratt was in the back driver's side of the Range Rover.

“His last words were, 'Oliver, what is it, brother?'

The court session will continue on Monday.
