A bubble tea shop opening a second location in Toronto

CHICA San Chen, a Taiwanese tea shop that has been dubbed “Michelin Star Quality” bubble tea, will open its second Toronto location any day now.

Vancouver-based CHICHA San Chen opened its first Toronto location this past summer at 60 Huron St. in Chinatown South — and it's been met with long lines and viral videos that have quickly gone viral on social media.

Thanks to its excellent high-quality ingredients, CHICHA has been recognized and awarded a global certification by the Michelin International Taste Institute (iTi), previously evaluated by Michelin Guide experts.

If you're stuck in line at the Huron Street locations, you're in luck.

Popular Ossington Avenue strollers have noticed signs have gone up in what used to be a small real estate brand store dedicated to CHICHA San Chan.

While they haven't announced an opening date yet, a spokesperson for the brand shared this statement with blogTO:

“We are excited to announce that CHICHA San Chen is expanding to better serve our valued customers! In response to popular demand, we are excited to open five new locations in Toronto, (The) GTA, Metro Vancouver and soon Montreal.”

Given that most establishments along Ossington pack massive lineups, the craft teahouse should find a comfortable home on the popular strip.

However, recently, Gong Cha, the street's only bubble tea shop, closed after less than a year at its location.

One wonders if a trendy, hipster-filled strip would be the right place for a cheerful bubble tea purveyor. For CHICA, only time will tell.
