Three things – five straight wins for the Jets

Nikolaj Ehlers scored his 200th career goal and Laurent Brossoit made 24 saves for the third time of the season to lead the Dallas Stars to a 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets at the American Airlines Center. The Jets (49-24-6) won their fifth straight to move into second place in the Central and are now just five of the first-place All-Stars. David Gustafsson and Mark Scheifele also scored for Winnipeg, which ends its road trip Saturday afternoon when it faces the Colorado Avalanche in Denver.

THE RIGHT MODEL

Winnipeg tried to get back to the style of play they played when they played 30-plus games and scored three goals or less. The Jets seem to have found it in Dallas against an All-Star team that has beaten them three times this season. Brossoit had his sixth career shutout tonight, but he got plenty of help from the group in front of him and was impressed with the teams effort in the first period.

“The first stage was probably my quietest. The boys played very well. I just had to be sharp. Some candid shots. It wasn't that difficult for me in the first one,” said Brossoit, who had a career best at the age of 14.th win of the season.

“In the second they pushed and I had to make some saves, but like I said, we came out hot and we stayed on track the whole game.”

200 FOR EHLERS

After a tough two-period stretch in Nashville, the Jets needed to bounce back against the Stars. In tonight's opening 20 at America Airlines, the Jets played near perfect hockey, opening the scoring at 2:51 p.m. Nikolai Ehlers jumped on a loose puck in the slot and put it back under Jake Oettinger. Ehlers is the first Danish player to reach 200 career goals, and he's back after playing 9:37 in Nashville.

“So today's game was pretty simple for me,” Ehlers said.

“It was great to score that goal and get the lads going and I think we played a really big game so that's good.”
