The notorious Calgary scammers can have many victims

Cochrane RCMP is appealing for more local victims of a notorious Calgary con artist to come forward.

In 2020, Cochrane RCMP investigated and charged Calgary resident Scott Phillip Brooks, 50, after several people reported to police that he had embezzled more than a million dollars over several years. Brooks was charged and tried in court, including 17 counts of fraud, four counts of identity fraud, money laundering, false title registration, issuing false receipts and disposing of property to defraud creditors.
