Nick Dixon | CTV News

Nick Dixon keeps Torontonians updated as an anchor and reporter for CP24 and co-anchor of Live 5 and CP24 Tonight.

He also joined CTV News Toronto from October 2018 to June 2020 as the station's weekend news anchor and general assignment video journalist covering the day's top stories.

Throughout his career, Dixon has reported on some of the biggest events in Canada and around the world. In 2014, he covered the Parliament Hill shootings in Ottawa and produced a special on the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings, interviewing several runners who witnessed the blasts. Dixon reported on the 2013 Papal Conclave from Vatican City and made two trips to Haiti in 2010 to cover the aftermath of the devastating earthquake, where he reported on OPERATION HESTIA, the Canadian Forces' humanitarian response to the tragedy.

Prior to joining CP24, Dixon spent more than a decade at Hamilton's CHCH as anchor/producer of the station's evening and nightly newscasts. Previously, he worked at Global News Toronto (2001-2004), where he worked his way up through the news department to the role of Queen's Park reporter after a stint at Rogers Cable in York Region.

Dixon earned a degree in political science from McMaster University in 1997 and quickly decided to pursue his passion for journalism. He graduated from Humber College's journalism program in 2002 and was awarded the Norman Depot Scholarship, awarded to the most promising journalism students in the field. Today, he continues to serve on the Journalism Advisory Panel with Humber College.
