Heavy rain in Toronto overnight will continue into Friday morning

Many GTAs in and around Toronto slept during periods of heavy rain at nightthis is expected to persist during the morning commute due to increasing winds.

Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning Thursday, initially predicting more than 50 mm of rain for Toronto. The Canadian Meteorological Agency is still predicting this overall forecast, with 10 to 15 mm of rain expected Friday morning.

Similar warnings are in effect for Halton Peel and Hamilton, with heavy rain in Timmins and Windsor.

Rain will taper off in Toronto Friday afternoon.

Winds will pick up over the weekend


680 News Radio Toronto has a guaranteed high of 13 degrees as daytime temperatures drop to 8 degrees in the afternoon.

Active weather will change by Saturday, with partly cloudy skies and a high near 12 degrees. We expect a little rain on Sunday, with temperatures close to 12 degrees. Although that could change, Monday will be a beautiful spring day in the city, with clear skies and a daytime high of 16 degrees.

Ahead of wetter conditions, GTA residents were treated to sunshine and temperatures in the high teens on Wednesday.
