Calgary Weather: Above normal levels continue

If Calgary's five-day forecast was a rollercoaster, we'd be on the high ramp-up portion of the trip before the big drop.

A ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere has begun to settle over Alberta and will remain in place for the rest of the week.

On Thursday we warm up to 12 degrees during the day – a degree above normal for this time of year – but clouds will begin to thicken around 4pm Winds will also be a bit breezy today at 20 from the south. up to 40 km/h.

Our temperatures will climb into the mid-teens through Saturday and Sunday, with a mostly sunny weekend.

It's Monday and our rollercoaster is going downhill fast.

A trough of low pressure in the North Pacific will make its way to western Canada by mid-April, pushing our highs into the single digits and bringing rain, snow and wind in its wake.

Long-range models are conflicted about how this low-pressure system will move after Monday, but there is agreement that the cooler temperatures affecting this low will continue through most of next week.
