Brossoit makes 24 stops, Jets shut out Stars to move into 2nd place in Central Division

Ehlers gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead at 14:51 of the first period when he hit a five-hole shot from the slot.

“I think it's a game where we're back to pressure, puck deep, all those old hockey clichés,” Ehlers said. “Getting pucks deep and working them (defensively) and creating turnovers, getting some time out of that (offensive zone) is something we've been really good at early this season. Today we are back at it. We played it simple for the most part, but there are still some things we need to clean up.”

Gustafsson made it 2-0 at 9:20 of the second period, deflecting Dylan Samberg's shot from inside the blue line above the right rim.

“I think against this team, you want to play up front. You want to get the first goal and then they have to open it up a little bit,” Dallas coach Pete DeBoer said. “Credit to them, they defended really hard. They were the most desperate team. We didn't give them much either, but you have to score in this league to win, and this was one of those nights where we didn't do enough to score.”

Scheifele scored an empty net goal to make it 3-0 at 17:39 of the third period.

“I know a lot of systems, of course. (A) disciplined team,” Stars forward Tyler Seguin said. “Their (third offensive lineman) was always up there, their (defense) played well, they're in your face. We know style. It couldn't be broken tonight. When a team like that scores the first goal or two, they really get into that system. If we're against them, they can't really play. If we see them again, it will be a message.”

NOTES: Winnipeg forward Adam Lowry played his 700th game. …Ehlers scored his 200th goal, becoming the sixth player in franchise history and the first Danish-born player in NHL history to reach the mark.
