In his evening, Archbishop Leo proclaimed the Good News of the Resurrection and reminded the congregation of the importance of Sunday and the Eucharist as a weekly celebration of the Resurrection. He emphasized the call to respond to Christ's love for us by loving Christ around us and caring for those most in need – the marginalized and poor in our midst.

Fr. Michael McGourty, pastor of St. Peter's, said it is a very exciting time for the parish to welcome the archbishop, “St. Peter was delighted to welcome Archbishop Leo as Archbishop of Toronto on his official visit to Divine Mercy Sunday.

“The Parish Church was filled with this wonderful Ceremony in the Octave of Easter,” said Fr. McGourty continued, “and it was a pleasure for the parishioners to meet and talk with Archbishop Leo at the reception after Mass.”
