A rainfall warning has been issued for Toronto during heavy rain

A rainfall warning has been issued for Toronto and surrounding areas, with up to 50 millimeters of rain expected Friday morning.

Environment Canada issued a weather advisory Thursday evening, advising that rain will continue overnight, with showers expected in the morning.

In addition to heavy rain, there will also be a risk of thunderstorms, the federal weather agency said.

“Heavy showers may cause flash flooding and water logging on roads. Localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas,” the rain warning said.

Several areas in Peel, Halton, York and Durham regions are also under rainfall warnings.

On Friday, Toronto will be cloudy with showers throughout the day and a high of 10 degrees.

After Friday, CP24 meteorologist Bill Coulter said the weekend will be cool and windy after Saturday morning's rain. A few afternoon showers are possible on Sunday, and next week will be warm and sunny.

“On Monday, there will be some clouds, light winds will blow from the southeast, rising to 17 degrees. Tuesday brings morning sunshine. But expect rain in the evening and the temperature will rise to 14 degrees,” he said.

Rain is expected on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 17 degrees.
