A Durham Region police officer has been charged with sexual assault

Toronto police say a former Ontario Police College officer has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault investigation, and they believe there are more victims.

William Knight, 31, of Toronto, was arrested last week.

Police are facing 11 charges against Knight, including:

  • False representation as a peace officer.

  • Three counts of sexual intercourse.

  • Three counts of sexual assault.

  • One count each for creating, possessing and accessing child pornography.

  • One count of making child pornography available.

Knight is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

It is alleged that Knight used social media and online applications to communicate with youths and posed as a police officer to gain the trust of his victims.

Police said he met the victims in person, took them to bars and bought them alcohol knowing they were under the legal age.

Knight allegedly sexually assaulted them and filmed them without the victim's knowledge.

Durham Regional Police said in a statement that Knight was a Durham constable in training and was not yet a sworn officer. They say he has since resigned and no longer works for the police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
