Police believe a man found dead in a North York apartment has been murdered

The Toronto Police Homicide Squad is investigating the city's third homicide of the year.

Police were called to an apartment building near Jane Street and Wilson Avenue in North York on Friday for a report of a man found dead inside the unit.

At the scene, police officers said they found a man “with injuries to his body.”

An autopsy later determined the victim was murdered, the Toronto Police Service said in a press release.

Toronto police released the victim's name and photo Sunday afternoon, but a media official later asked that the identification be removed because it was “released in error while police continue to investigate the incident.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Toronto police are asking anyone with information to contact them anonymously at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477 (TIPS) or www.222tips.com.
