Jacob Fowler wants to follow in the footsteps of Kaiden Primeau in Montreal

The NCAAs start tomorrow Frozen Four tournament. On this occasion, Canadiens fans will have the opportunity to see four prospects of the organization, but while Sam Harris (Denver) and Luke Tuch (Boston University) will be there, it will be Lane Hutson (Boston University) and Jacob Fowler (Boston College) who will get the most attention.

These two are among the Habs' elite prospects.

Although the top three meet at 5pm, you'll have to wait until 8.30pm to see Fowler in action. It will be a chance for the latter to continue a dream (and even historic) first season in the NCAA.

Of course, seeing him perform like this will make Habs fans eager to see him in a Montreal uniform…and Fowler hopes it happens as soon as possible.

In fact, by his own admission, his goal is simple: he wants to follow in the footsteps of Cayden Primeau, as he told Jessica Lapinski (TVA Sports).

At first glance, it seems unusual that Fowler would want to follow in the footsteps of a man who struggled to establish himself in the NHL at age 24 and is currently the Habs' second-best goaltender. On the other hand, Fowler wants to be inspired by the player who was in his position a few years ago.

Prime recently dominated the NCAA with Northeastern University. In fact, excluding wins, his numbers were slightly better than Fowler's…and he was on a team below the 2023-24 edition of Boston College.

Obviously, Fowler, who is aspiring to be the Tricolor's future starting goaltender, should displace Primau in the pecking order, who may aspire to the same role long-term. That said, for now, the Habs future will be content to take inspiration from the performances of a man who has experienced the reality of dominating the NCAA.

It remains to be seen which of these goaltenders (including Samuel Montembo and Jakub Dobes) will emerge as the Canadiens' No. 1 goaltender of the future.

In storms

– If he repeats it tomorrow evening, I wouldn't have any problem.

– I don't even know what to say about it.

– A great feat on this day of brothers and sisters.
