How Calgary in Canada made a cowboy out of a future king

Despite its name, the restaurant didn't invent the Caesar salad or the Caesar cocktail, but they serve a mean version of both. The salad is prepared theatrically, and the cocktail is a Calgary-invented melange of Clamato juice, Worcestershire sauce, and vodka or gin. The best booze for treating a dog's fur, but delicious at any time of the day.

Musical Mile

Often referred to as “Nashville North”, Calgary's live music scene has been expanding in recent years. There's no better way to take it in than by strolling the Music Mile, with live music venues ranging from Blues Cannes, a blues bar housed inside a cavernous metal barn, to the National Music Center dominating the skyline. A world-class piece of architecture that houses the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Finish it all off with a drink at the King Eddy Hotel, built in 1905, a former railway inn that has seen many lives: once a legendary blues bar that hosted the likes of Buddy Guy, then tenements and finally gutted and rebuilt brick by brick . National Music Center as a center for musicians. With little more than a spotlight and a microphone, the intimate stage lends itself to largely raw performances.
