Toronto police say officers responded to a carjacking call near Kennedy Street. and Eglinton Ave. E. on Tuesday.

According to the charges, the victim stopped when he noticed two men in a red car driving nearby.

One man pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim's car keys Holdup Unit Insp. Joseph Mathis in a statement released Wednesday. The car thief took the keys and drove off in the victim's car.

He said the red car also fled the scene.

“Uniform and plainclothes officers of the 42nd Division quickly responded to the area and identified three cars parked together, including the victim's car and a red car,” Matys said. “Officers observed four males around the vehicles and arrested them.”

“Furthermore, during the arrest, officers recovered valuable items of evidence related to the investigation,” he added.

Charged are: Deandre Robinson, 21, of Hamilton; Alyan Shahbaz, 22, of Milton; Senduran Suthaharan, 29, from Bradford; and Ravinder Mooker, 40, of Milton.
