Calgary weather forecast for Wednesday, April 10, 2024

Parts of southern Alberta experienced their first thunderstorms of the year on Tuesday.

The BC system brought a little bit of everything: rain, snow, graupel (soft and fine snow flakes) and thunderstorms.

Now that the unsettled weather has passed, high pressure will move into Sunday evening.

Wednesday is a recovery day for the city on the temperature front.

Despite how brief Tuesday's storm was, it dropped our overnight temperatures below freezing.

Winds will not be too strong on Wednesday, but will be from the northwest, which may limit solar heating to above normal (11 C).

There is potential, but for now, with a high degree of caution in the forecast 9 C.

A high pressure blocking pattern will set in across western Canada on Thursday, bringing warmth and milder conditions.

Long-range models are predicting that our jet stream will tip over on Saturday, which could mean a chance of scattered showers in some areas, but nothing major beyond that for the next five days.

By Monday next week, that could bring us back to below season temperatures and a few days of rain/snow.
