Incident Report: Attempted Robbery – Investigation #: C24-77305

Date of event: April 8, 2024
Time: Around 10:00 p.m
Location: Originally reported in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue; The scene is in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street, Winnipeg.

Detail: Winnipeg Police officers responded to a report of a shooting involving an adult male. The 20-year-old victim was found to have multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated at the scene and stabilized before being taken to a local hospital.

Investigation: The investigation was initiated by the Department of Combating Major Crimes. The victim apparently arranged to meet with the suspects to purchase firearms through an online platform. Suspecting vandalism, the victim attempted to drive away, resulting in a suspect firing multiple shots into his vehicle. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.

Suspicious characteristics:

  1. Male, white, 20 years old, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.
  2. The man, in his 30s, was wearing dark clothing and was armed with a long gun.

Incident Report: Stabbing – Arrest #: C24-77180

Date of event: April 8, 2024
Time: Around 19:00
Location: Bus shelter at River/Osborne, Winnipeg.

Detail: A verbal altercation at the bus shelter escalated when the male suspect punched and then stabbed the victim, a woman in her 30s. The suspect was caught nearby with a knife.

Payments made:

  1. Robbery
  2. Assault with a weapon
  3. Intimidation means death or bodily harm
  4. Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon

The suspect, a 48-year-old man from Winnipeg, was released on bond under the Criminal Code.

Investigation: The Major Crime Squad is seeking further information in relation to this incident.


Incident Report: Burglary/Vehicle Theft – Arrest #: C24-77982

Date of event: April 9, 2024
Time: About 5:20 p.m
Location: Parking lot, 700 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway, Winnipeg.

Detail: Responding law enforcement officers apprehended an adult woman who attempted to flee after a carjacking. During the investigation, it was found that the suspects tried to drive away the car of a 52-year-old woman and beat a 77-year-old man, demanding his personal property.

Arrested suspects:

  1. 32-year-old woman
  2. 15-year-old girl

Both suspects were charged with two counts of Robbery and released under the Criminal Code.

Reported Injuries: Both victims were slightly injured.
