Air Canada has resumed flights to Israel after a six-month hiatus due to the Israel-Hamas war

Air Canada has resumed service between Canada and Israel after a six-month hiatus.

The airline says flights between Toronto and Tel Aviv resumed on April 9, and a once-weekly flight between Montreal and Tel Aviv will resume in May.

Montreal-based Air Canada, like many other international carriers, suspended service to Ben Gurion International Airport on October 8 following the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas.

The airline says it has conducted an extensive safety analysis, including consultations with government agencies, unions representing its flight crews and safety experts, in preparation for the resumption of service.

The federal government is still advising Canadians to avoid non-essential travel to Israel due to the ongoing hostilities and unpredictable security situation.

A number of international carriers, including United Airlines and Ryanair, have also recently announced the resumption of service to Israel.
