A special weather statement has been issued for Hamilton

While a “severe” spring storm is on the cards for Toronto, heavy rain is forecast for the west of the city and will continue through the weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for 25 to 45 millimeters of rain in Hamilton. Stormy conditions are expected to begin Wednesday night and continue into Saturday morning.

Heavy rain is expected on Thursday evening with some thunderstorms. Rain and wind gusts of up to 80 km/h are forecast for Friday night. The Met Office said rain could mix with snow on Friday night.

However, Toronto had mostly sunny skies and a high of 17°C during the day, about seven degrees higher than the average daytime high on April 10.

“But the cloud will move in again this evening ahead of a strong storm,” CP24 meteorologist Bill Coulter said Wednesday. “This low will lead to wet weather Wednesday night into Saturday night.”

Thunderstorms are possible in Toronto on Thursday evening, with a high of 16 C during the day. More rain is expected on Friday as temperatures drop to 9C.

Coulter said Toronto will start the weekend “cool and breezy” with temperatures above 10 degrees on Saturday, but warm and sunny weather will follow. Daytime highs of 17°C are forecast for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
