A man was hospitalized after a gun attack in Montreal

A fight between two men in Montreal on Thursday left one person injured and one hospitalized.

The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) received a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. about a fight near St. Mark and St. Catherine streets.

Arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found a 41-year-old man with lower body injuries.

He regained consciousness but was taken to hospital.

His life is not in danger.

Police soon found the suspect, a 32-year-old man.

“According to initial reports, an argument escalated between the victim and the suspect, at which point the suspect injured the victim with an unknown object,” SPVM spokeswoman Caroline Chevrefils explained.

He is expected to meet SPVM investigators later that day.

“The two men knew each other and both had criminal records,” Chevrefils added.

The investigation is still ongoing.
