A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman was found dead near Montreal

A 38-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 27-year-old woman in southwest Montreal.

David Tota appeared in Longueuil court Wednesday afternoon to be arraigned. Police declined to say whether the victim knew the accused.

The victim was Josianna Faucher, a source told CTV News. He was found in a house on rue Toulouse near Candiac just before noon on Tuesday and pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who identified herself as Faucher's mother wrote on her Facebook page that her daughter had died. “She was our little girl, she didn't deserve to leave us so young,” wrote Pierret Chalifou Faucher on social media.

City police were first called to the home by someone concerned about the woman's health.
