6 things we think Calgary should adopt from other cities

Calgary certainly has its share of landmarks and architecture, like our Plus 15 line and of course the Calgary Tower, but we think we could use a few more.

Whether it's Hollywood's glitzy Walk of Fame, London's efficient transit system, or a “scattered” good time at the West Edmonton Mall, there are great things happening in other cities that Calgary wouldn't mind copying.

Here are some things we'd like to see in other cities in Calgary:

London tube

Calgarians are used to dealing with the failings of the transit system, and there are many conversations going on about how to improve it. We think Calgary should adopt London's subway system, it's much faster and means less road work!

World Water Park at West Edmonton Mall

We have great recreation centers in Calgary, but nothing compares to the West Edmonton Mall water park. We want to be ours, but the question may be, which mall should we put it in?

Sydney Opera House

The Saddledome is synonymous with Calgary (for now), but as much as we love it, we hate how much artists don't enjoy playing there. If we have something as impressive as the acoustics at the Sydney Opera House, it's sure to attract a lot of great shows.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

We're building our reputation as the Hollywood of the North, and it's time our streets reflect that! From Tate McRae to Cory Monteith, we need to showcase our incredible local talent.

Granville Island

Calgary has great community markets like Crossroads Market and Granary Road, but how great would it be to have a year-round massive outdoor market?

Central Park Carousel

Calgary has some great parks and we can think of a few places where a carousel would make them that much more fun. It's easy to imagine a carousel in the center of Prince's Island Park!
