5 people were injured in Montreal, the driver fled on foot

Montreal police (SPVM) are searching for a driver who was involved in a hit-and-run that left five people injured on Sunday night.

The incident happened at the corner of Lapierre and Cordner streets in the LaSalle neighborhood at 9:30 p.m.

“The SUV was heading west on Cordner Street and the car was heading north on Lapierre Street,” Montreal police spokeswoman Caroline Chevrefils said. “The driver would not have performed the mandatory stop (of the vehicle).”

He said the driver fled on foot after the crash and has yet to be found.

“Policemen who arrived at the scene identified the people in the first car,” added Chevrefils. There were three adults and two children on board,” he said.

Five people were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police are speaking to witnesses at the scene to find the driver.
