14 Ambassadors were honored for their contribution to the promotion of Montreal

MONTREAL, April 10, 2024 /CNW/ – The Palace of Montreal is proud to announce the naming of 14 new Ambassadors who were honored at the 34th Ambassador Gala. April 4. Thanks to the commitment of these people, Montreal will host 12 major conventions between 2024 and 2028.

For 40 years, the Palace of Montreal has helped stimulate the economic and social development of the metropolis by encouraging the exchange of knowledge and know-how. Every year, more than 300 events are held in the palace, on average $225 million in economic divisions. Of course, business activities do not belong to one institution, society participates in it. The Palais des congrès and Montréal Business Events teams have been working closely for several years to promote Montreal as the destination of choice for international conventions.

The 2024 Ambassadors Gala also honored four individuals whose events take place outside the walls of the Palais. Together with the professionals whose congresses will be held at the Palace, they will be inducted into the Ambassadors' Club of the Palace of Congress, joining more than 350 prominent figures from the scientific, university and research sectors. Essential to the work of the Palais and Business Events Montréal, these professionals open their networks to host large-scale international events that promote the city and bring important economic and intellectual benefits to Quebec. Events organized by the 14 new ambassadors (featured on page 4) will translate into nearly 19,000 delegates coming to Montreal, allowing for 53,000 overnight stays in the city's hotels. These are the estimated economic impacts of these 12 events $70.5 million.

Educational team: An important collaboration for business tourism in Montreal

The 2024 Ambassadors' Gala was an opportunity to launch the education team for Montreal Convention Center and Business Events. This collaborative initiative offers researchers, professors and professionals a single point of contact that streamlines the process of attracting international events to Montreal. With access to the experience, resources and network of the Palais des congrès and Business Events Montréal, these professionals will have the support they need to achieve their goals.

professor Khany Mustafa He was named the Great Ambassador

The 2024 edition of the Ambassadors Gala also honored the professor Khany Mustafa, awarded him the title of Grand Ambassador for his years of exemplary commitment to the Palais mission and his significant contribution to the international promotion of Montreal. Serving as ambassador since 2007, he has drawn big events to the palace, and lots of them $9 million at economic events, notably the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Turbo Expo in 2007 and 2015 and the Global Power and Motion Society Conference in Montreal in 2018. Professor Mustafa was the president of the Ambassadors Club from 2017 to 2023 and was its co-chairman. The Aerospace Committee was formed from 2011 to 2018, when a multidisciplinary strategic committee was formed, which he still chairs. He has organized dozens of conferences, meetings and forums in Montreal hotels, as well as at a high-tech university.

An evening full of Montreal-style creativity and haute cuisine

The Palais des Congrès Ambassadors Gala showcased Montreal talent at every turn.
