Montreal police are investigating a suspicious car fire in Verdun

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating a car fire in the Verdun neighborhood.

Firefighters were called to a suspicious fire in the parking lot behind the Douglas Mental Health University Institute at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

They quickly extinguished the flames.

Montreal police spokesman Manuel Couture said the car was a total loss, but nothing around it was damaged.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
