Calgary is one of the most livable cities on the planet. As one of Canada's fastest growing cities, we are building to meet the needs of our expanding cities

people, are striving to create a lively, affordable place for their 2 million inhabitants in the near future.

A lot goes on behind the scenes to make this happen. That's why the City of Calgary is introducing a new podcast Calgary Stories, an insider's way to the heart of Calgary City Hall. The first episode, which begins today, features an interview with Chief Administrative Officer David Duckworth, who sheds light on the priority areas shaping the future of our city. This includes discussions about housing, public safety, downtown revitalization and even how city finances are managed.

“I think it's really important for Calgarians to be aware,” says Duckworth. “We hope people will not only listen, but engage. I encourage them to contact me, my team, or their elected officials with questions and comments. We're here to continue to ensure Calgary is a world-class city, and engaging with Calgarians to do that is critical to us.”

In each monthly episode, we bring Calgarians exclusive interviews with city staff and partners, expert insights and perspectives they won't find anywhere else. The podcast is hosted by Jose Rodriguez, head of media relations and employee relations. Before joining The City, Rodriguez was a journalist for 24 years.

“We're not here just to talk; we are here to connect, educate and empower Calgarians with knowledge to make a difference in their communities,” says Rodriguez. “Journalism plays an important role in our democracy and we are not here to replace it. It's another way to have meaningful conversations about city issues and topics that matter to Calgarians.”
