A 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in the River Heights area of ​​Winnipeg

Police say a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted early Friday morning in the city's River Heights neighborhood.

The woman was dropped off by a friend at 2:30 a.m. near Niagara Street and Kingsway when a man ran up and attacked her. Then he left on his bike.

The man is described as 25-35 years old, about 5-foot-4, with a thin to medium build. He could have thin lips, a pointed nose and chin, dark blond to strawberry blonde hair, and a goatee.

The bike is described as a small, dark colored BMX style.

The suspect's description is similar to another sexual assault that happened a month earlier and not far from the same location. Police have not said if the two incidents are related.

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service's Sex Crimes Unit are continuing to investigate.
