Montreal has gone 30 days without a significant snow event or blizzard. This is very special.

In the last 10 years, except for 2012, the city has had above average snowfall in February. The climatic norm for 1981-2010 is 41.2 cm of snow. Could February 2024 suffer the same fate?

Snowfall amounts in Montreal are more than 15 cm. We need to look back more than 30 days ago, on January 13th, when 16.8 cm of snow fell at the Montreal airport. Since then, we have been in a snowstorm drought for most of the region and province.

Why is that? A combination of factors led to a mild start to the month, as well as snow events that disrupted high pressure in the south or east of the province.

It is predicted that it will snow in a short period of time. About 5 cm is expected in Montreal, with areas east of the city expecting 5 to 10 cm by Friday. So it doesn't necessarily meet the blizzard criteria.
