Montreal police are looking for a sexual assault suspect

The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) is asking for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of sexually assaulting a building under construction in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (MHM) on November 25.

A mobile command post will be set up at the intersection of boulevard de l'Assomption on February 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to collect information from the public. and avenue Pierre de Coubertin, near the scene of the crime.

Investigators are on the scene and they are appealing for anyone with information (or who may have witnessed the attack) to speak to them.

On November 25, 2023, around 4:00 p.m., the suspect posed as a police officer and arrested two people who were investigating a building under construction.

He held them involuntarily and sexually assaulted one of them, claiming to be guarding the building.

Suspicious profile

SPVM produces a composite portrait to help identify a wanted suspect.

He is a white man, in his 40s, 5ft 9in tall, with short black hair and speaks English.

At the time of the incident, his white beard was unkempt and he smelled of cigarettes. He was wearing a black sweater, jeans and white sneakers.

He was also wearing a navy bulletproof jacket with the word 'police' written on the front in a reflective strip.

Anyone who is wanted, is a victim, or knows a possible victim should call 911 or go to their local police department.

According to Info-Crime Montréal, there is a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the suspect's arrest.
