Manitoba Animal Rescue's Valentine's Day litter fundraiser

An animal rescue in Manitoba is helping people flush their bad relationships out of the toilet this Valentine's Day.

It's all part of the Grateful Friends Animal Rescue fundraiser. If you donate $5 or more to the organization, they will write the name of the one you don't like so much on a piece of paper, put it in the trash, and let the adoptable cats do their thing.

“We're always looking for new and exciting ways to raise money to help animals,” said Natalie Craig, founder of Grateful Friends Animal Rescue.

“So we came up with the idea of sending a donation and we write the name of your choice on a piece of paper and put it in one of the cat litter boxes … and let our cats help you while you help them.”

However, this is not just ex-data. Since the animal rescue began fundraising earlier in the week, requests have been pouring in, including from bosses, co-workers, old friends and high school bullies, she said.

Craig noted that there has been a lot of interest in the initiative, saying that people started contacting him immediately after it was launched.

“We love to see a successful fundraiser and we love to see people have fun with it,” Craig said.
