Eyewitness wanted for fatal encounter with police – Winnipeg Free Press

A Manitoba police inspector is trying to identify a witness who struggled with police as part of an investigation into a man's death.

Elias Whitehead, 37, died at the hospital Oct. 15 after a medical emergency in the 200 block of Sherbrooke Street.

On Wednesday, Manitoba's Independent Investigations Unit released images taken from video evidence of a person who witnessed the fight.

“Attempts to identify this individual were unsuccessful,” the IIU said in a press release.

Anyone who knows the identity of the witness is asked to call the IIU toll-free at 204-948-7000 or 1-844-667-6060.
