Wanted in Surrey for kidnapping, police say arrested in Winnipeg on other charges

A man wanted in Surrey has been arrested in Winnipeg.

About a year ago, Surrey RCMP appealed for the public's help to locate 49-year-old Fabian Yule Brown, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for multiple charges.

On February 17, 2023, a warrant was issued for Brown's arrest on charges including kidnapping, assault, unlawful imprisonment, menacing, breaking and entering, fraud and possession of stolen property.

“After investigators learned that Brown may be living in Winnipeg, a significant effort was made to locate Brown and the warrant was extended across Canada,” Surrey RCMP Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha said this in a press release on Tuesday, February 13.

Sangha said Brown was arrested and detained by Winnipeg Police on Wednesday, February 7.

“He is currently in custody in Winnipeg and will be brought to BC to face charges,” he said.

“We are grateful to our partners at the Winnipeg Police Service for their assistance.”
