Toronto Police will introduce paid parking on public streets this Family Day

Anyone planning to park on a Toronto street this Family Day might want to download the Green P app.

That's because the Toronto Police Service will start using paid street parking on statutory holidays in Toronto. There are nine public holidays in Ontario. Family Day, celebrated on February 19, is the first holiday on which law enforcement measures are implemented.

Toronto police have not previously been involved in these celebrations. The press release notes that the change is due to increased demand for parking.

“The introduction of on-street paid parking on statutory holidays is a measure to address increased competition for traffic congestion and the need for efficient parking management.”

Money collected from on-street parking fees goes to the City of Toronto.

Drivers can download the city-owned mobile payment app from the App Store and Play Store.
