STM 'Updated' 10 Montreal Metro Station Names Just in Time for Valentine's Day

Montreal's STM is at it again, and this time they're playing Cupid with their metro card. The Société de transport de Montréal has put a new love-themed coat on its station signs for Valentine's Day. Whether you're a nerd or a sap, you can't help but smile or roll your eyes.

Jolicoeur, who became the flirt of the net, did not need makeup to match the lovey-dovey theme. Lionel-Groulks, with his usual gravitas, has been renamed Lionel-Chow, because who doesn't want their daily commute spiced up with the term of endearment for cabbage?

At Cheri-UQAM, you can find students in love who miss their trains for a moment in each other's eyes. As for the university, now called Faitdeloeil-Université-de-Sherbrooke, watch out for the sneaky glances on the yellow signs – it's either flirting or something caught someone's eye.

With its colorful signs, Mamourency is now a station where every passenger is secretly waiting for a date worthy of a romantic mood. Jarry-ve-à-ma-date, rushing to welcome Valentine's Day, sounds like a last-minute text sent as you go through the turnstiles.

Villa Maria, now Villa Mariage, reminds you of your single status as you dodge bouquets and questions about when it's your turn. Acadie becomes Acadit-Oui, as you might say for cohabitation or an extra piece of Valentine's chocolate—no judgment there.

De Castelnau was given a ninth love potion, appearing as De Castelnose, which resembled a medieval-themed wedding venue. And Namur became Namur because STM decided that every platform should have a fairy tale ending, or at least a decent first date.

This isn't STM's first rodeo to switch theme station names. They previously took a lightsaber to a Star Wars Day card.

Anyway, Happy Valentine's Day, Montreal. May your dates be as sure as an orange line on a good day, and your romantic gestures more heartwarming than a train car heater in the dead of winter.
