Here's what's open and closed in Calgary on Family Day this year

That's almost it! The long weekend is almost here, but how are you going to spend it? Before you make any big plans, it's important to know what's open and closed on Family Day in Calgary, and we're here to help.

Whether you're an adventure seeker or an errand boy, here's what you need to know before February 19, 2024.

Open

Museums

Museums are a great way to get out on a family day, and we've got some great news!

Many Alberta-run locations are not only open, but will be absolutely FREE to check out this year.

Cinemas

Hoping to catch a movie this Family Day? Landmark Cinemas, Cineplex and Calgary's budget theater Canyon Meadows will be open all weekend.

Shopping center

We recommend checking their hours before you go, but Southcentre Mall, CrossIron Mills, CF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall and CORE will all be open on February 19.

Food and liquor stores

Need milk or beer? Good luck to you. However (again) we would recommend checking local bus times, most pubs and food shops will be open on Bank Holiday Monday.

Calgary Tower

Views, views and more views. After your chosen ritual this week, check out the Calgary Tower and dine on Sky 360.

Telus Spark

If you're looking for something fun to do with your loved ones, why not spend a Monday afternoon at Telus Spark?

Where: 220 St. George's Drive NE

CALGARY TRANSIT

While transit will operate on Monday, February 19, CTtrains, buses and on-demand transportation will operate on a Sunday schedule.

GARBAGE

The good news is that the landfill will be open again this year on Family Day. Check out their hours here.

Closed

City-owned recreation facilities and recreation centers

It's Family Day Monday, most of them City pools, fitness and recreation centers are closed for statistics.

Village Square Recreation Center, Southland, Thornhill, Acadia and Bob Bahan will remain open with special holiday hours.

Car parking

According to their website, Calgary parking lots will be closed on Family Day this year.

Costco

While grocery and convenience stores will be open this Friday, Costco will be closed on Family Day Monday. Looks like you have until February 19th to get your big hot dog fix.
