“It's a way for singles to meet each other,” Switzer said. “There's a ceremony and you have about three minutes with each partner.”

Some aspects of the event are similar to the sessions Switzer offers to couples as part of her work as an intimacy coach.

“I say I'm a relationship alchemist,” Switzer said. “We take what's there and make magic with it.”

“Tantric practice really brings you to alertness, to connect with your partner,” Shear said.

Sessions encourage genuine heart-to-heart communication.

“Get away from the hustle and bustle of life,” Keeler said. “Get down with your partner, connect on a deeper level.”

Jennifer Hooper, who attended one of Switzerland's recent couples sessions, says she enjoyed the traditional speed dating experience.

“I've done tantra speed before,” Hooper said. “You experience a diverse group of people and a mix of different energies.”

Switzer will host the Valentine's Tantra Speed ​​Date event at the Evolved Movement Arts Center in southeast Calgary on Wednesday evening, February 14th.

“We're isolated and alone in our society right now,” Switzer said. “It's mental as well as healing.”
