A son has been arrested in Toronto and charged with murder following the death of his father in Stony Creek, police said.

The 22-year-old son of a Stony Creek man who was killed Saturday has been charged in his murder, police said.

Police said they arrested Sukhraj Cheema-Singh in Toronto on Monday and charged him with the death of his father, Kuldeep Singh.

Singh, 56, died after what police called an “altercation” with his son in Stoney Creek.

Police said they were called to a home near West Mud Street and Trafalgar Drive on Saturday at 7:42 p.m.

When they arrived, they found the father “seriously injured,” according to a Sunday media release.

He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead.

According to the police, Singh's son fled immediately after the “altercation”.

According to the investigators, Cheema-Singh was in the area half an hour before the incident. Hamilton police said they arrested him Monday around 3 p.m. in the area of ​​Dufferin Street and West Eglington Avenue in Toronto.

This is Hamilton's first homicide of the year. Cheema-Singh is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, police said.
