A plane carrying four Canadian paratroopers crashed on a beach in southern Mexico on Sunday, killing one person on the beach.

Four Canadians and one Mexican on board the small plane were removed from the plane and taken for treatment. The Oaxaca state civil defense office said they were in “stable” condition.

The names or hometowns of the Canadians were not immediately available.

The office said the deceased's wife was nearby but was not injured.

The accident happened just a few meters (meters) from the water and near a wooden beach structure often used for restaurants in Puerto Escondido.

Video posted on social media showed beachgoers carrying at least one person from the plane over the sand.
