2024 Alberta camping reservations to use the new website

Campers wishing to reserve a site at Alberta Park Camp must register for a new account and use a different website.

Reservations open next week, but people can now create a new account and check out the new website at shop.albertaparks.ca.

Those familiar with the old reservation system will notice new features, including an easy way to find last-minute weekend spots and the ability to pay online for additional campsites on site.

Alberta Parks Ambassador Tyler Dixon reviewed the site and said it will take some time for people to get used to the new look, but it's much more streamlined and user-friendly than the old one.

The new feature that interests him the most is the ability to create a list of favorites.

“If you go to a new camp that you're not familiar with, you can come back next season and make a list without having to guess which site you liked,” Dixon said.

He said he used to make his list on the phone, but having it on one site makes it more convenient.

According to Dixon, the “Camping This Weekend” feature is another welcome addition. This feature shows people what campsites are available for the upcoming weekend; A valuable tool for last-minute planners.

The only thing missing, Dixon said, is the ability to purchase a Kananaskis Conservation Pass when making a campsite reservation.

New booking rules

According to Alberta Parks, reservations can still be made up to 90 days in advance for individual and field camping, and up to 180 days in advance for group and comfort camping.

Campers are now limited to booking 10 consecutive nights instead of 14.

To prevent people from booking more days than they need, which happens during peak periods, campsites booked 90 days in advance cannot change their arrival or departure date for 31 days. You can cancel your reservation at any time.

Reservations cannot be moved or changed as long as the entire length of your stay is within the 90-day reservation window.

The new website opens for bookings at 9am on February 20, the first day campers can book the site for the May long weekend.
