Toronto Argonauts Ryan Hunter is the CFL's highest-paid Canadian player for 2025, 2026.

The Toronto Argonauts have signed offensive lineman Ryan Hunter, a deal that will make him the CFL's highest-paid Canadian player in the final two years of his contract to an extension through the 2026 season.

The 28-year-old was under contract through the 2024 season and will now earn a hefty $209,000 this year as part of the new deal, making him one of the league's highest-paid forwards.

Hunter's earnings will increase in 2025 as he earns $275,000 in hard cash with an additional $5,000 in All-Star bonuses. His earnings will increase to $285,000 in hard cash in 2026, plus an All-Star bonus of which $135,600 is guaranteed.

The six-foot-three, 315-pound blocker is currently on track to become the highest-paid Canadian player in the CFL in 2025 and 2026 as part of a new deal negotiated by Montreal agent Sasha Ghavami.

Hunter started all 18 games at left tackle for the Argonauts in 2023, helping the club record a league-low 19 sacks and finish first in the East Division with a 16-2 regular season record. He was named an East Division and CFL All-Star.

A native of North Bay, Ont. Bowling Green State University in Ohio was a first-round pick in the 2018 CFL draft. He signed with the Argonauts for four years in the NFL as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers, during which he earned $659,988.

Hunter won Super Bowl LIV and won the Gray Cup in his first year north of the border with the Argos as a member of the Chiefs.

Toronto opens its 2024 regular season on Sunday, June 9 when it hosts the BC Lions at BMO Field.
