Part time/occasional opportunities

  • Parks Canada is recruiting students for the summer of 2024 at Lower Fort Garry, Real House and Forks National Historic Sites. The term of February 26.
  • The Department of Community Services is hiring 2024 Summer Recreation Technicians (124156) for watersheds, recreation facilities, and preschool, child and youth summer programs. Apply online and then attend an in-person interview at one of the following job fairs:
    • Friday, February 23, 9:30am – 2:30pm Fort Rouge Recreation Center, 625 Osborne St.
    • Saturday, March 910am – 4pm Sergeant Tommy 90 Prince Place, Sinclair.
    • Thursday, March 281:00pm – 6:00pm Fort Rouge Recreation Center, 625 Osborne St.
    • Candidates need to attend only one session. Be prepared for the interview.
  • The City of Winnipeg is looking for Community Skating Monitors (123702). Closing date March 18.
  • Work part-time with the Government of Canada Research Fellowship Program while you continue your studies. Conduct innovative research related to your degree or program and gain experience with a federal department or agency.
  • Canada Revenue Agency is hiring local students for jobs in Winnipeg and Western Canada. Learn more about current opportunities.
  • The Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) has a variety of part-time and part-time employment opportunities for students. Apply to the current Student Enrollment List (which also includes Employment Opportunities for Students with Disabilities (EOSD) and Indigenous Student Employment Opportunities (ISEO)) to participate!
  • The Government of Manitoba's STEP Services Program is now accepting applications for summer 2024 employment. Applicants must return to school for the following academic year. Check out the full details and sign up on their website today!
  • Level UP is a paid opportunity for students to work on short-term remote projects.
  • To be eligible, you must be a current student enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution, a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee claimant under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and have the legal right to work in Canada under relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

  • Mini U is hiring a program manager. The term of February 14.
  • Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is hiring for the Lake Winnipeg Basin Program. To begin with, ECCC will recruit local students to support a variety of freshwater related activities in support of ECCC's mandate. May 1. The term of February 16. Information is also available in French.
  • CIBC is hiring summer students for a variety of positions across Canada. Most positions have deadlines February 16. Check out the Summer 2024 COOP for a National Office Analyst (2402013) based in Toronto.
  • Prairie Theater Exchange is hiring a Technical Production, Facilities and Rentals Manager. The term of February 19. Check out the CITT job board for more performing arts opportunities.
  • RBC Capital Markets is seeking undergraduate students who identify as Black and/or Indigenous Canadian to apply for the RBC Pathways Diversity Award, which includes a full-time internship. May-August 2025, and a $10,000 prize. Application deadline February 20.
  • Farm Credit Canada is hiring a Business School graduate for a Customer Service Manager. The term of February 21.
  • The City of Winnipeg is seeking a Forestry Technical Assistant (124024). Closing date February 23.
  • The Government of Manitoba is seeking Masters of Science in Statistics graduates for the position of Senior Performance Management Analyst (42363) in the Consumer Protection and Public Services Division. The term of February 26.
  • CN Rail is hiring a Signals and Communications Apprentice in Winnipeg. Check Disability Solutions for available job opportunities.
  • Fort McMurray Public Schools (FMPSD) has training opportunities for full-time, short-term and substitute teachers. We offer teachers new mentorship, excellent PD, and time for teacher collaboration. We are looking for elementary and middle school teachers who have a passion and desire to help our children grow.

Career fairs, information sessions, and conferences are great ways to learn more about your industry, network, and find opportunities in it. Employers attend career fairs and exhibition booths to inform students about future opportunities and also seek talented students/graduates for current positions. Check out these upcoming events!

  • The U of M hosts Elevate Your Skills. Next topics: Conversation Skills February 20 from 15:00 to 17:00 and salary negotiations March 11 from 15.00 to 17.00
  • Applications are open to undergraduate and graduate students for the 2024 Stu Clarke New Venture Championship, hosted by the U of M. Teams compete by presenting their business plans and videos. $60,000 in monetary gifts. The term of February 20. The event takes place April 18-20.
