Pulse Canada is contributing another $10 million to the research through partner organizations such as Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers.

Pulse Canada is also a recipient of new government money.

“(It) helps support pulse farmers to develop new varieties that meet changing market expectations,” said James House, a professor of food and human nutrition at the University of Manitoba.

The funding will allow the University of Manitoba to continue its collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan on yellow bean research.

House studied how genetic, economic and environmental factors affect legume crops.
