The meeting could remove the board of directors of the Airdrie Football Association

The Football Association in Airdrie will hold a special meeting on Monday evening in response to several issues surrounding the organisation.

The move comes after a petition was circulated to remove the board of directors of the Airdrie and District Football Association (ADSA).

The campaign was launched by a group of volunteers within ADSA who said the board was ignoring a number of concerns, issues and violations raised during a town hall meeting last year.

“Little has been done to address the systemic problems that have plagued ADSA for years,” the group wrote in a statement to CTV News earlier this month.

“The general lack of positive and respectful manners or outright ignoring of issues by most board members and staff when discussing membership, staff and volunteer concerns and requests has brought the situation to a critical boiling point.”

Every parent or guardian of children registered with ADSA will be allowed to participate in the vote of no confidence on Monday evening.

If it passes, ADSA's board of directors will be dissolved.

A statement on the website from ADSA President Keith Mills says the board is working hard.

“On Jan. 16, council met to approve the new year's budget, an important step that must be completed by Feb. 1 to avoid impacting the day-to-day operations of the association,” Mills wrote.

“If the new board votes on Feb. 12, the budget can be amended at any time by law.”

The special meeting will be held at 6pm in the Rotary Room, Genesis Square, Airdrie.

Details on how participants should submit a ballot can be found online.
