The man accused of shooting three officers is the Winnipeg Free Press

A man who shot and wounded three city police officers at a North End apartment complex on Saturday is facing charges.

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service's Heavily Armed Tactical Support Team were hit with pellets from a 12-gauge shotgun at a residence at 285 College Ave. he was shot in the wrist, police said Monday. All three were taken to hospital in stable condition and released on Saturday.

At 6:15 a.m. Friday, police were dispatched to an armed robbery in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue. One of the three suspects shot a 40-year-old man in the lower body. He was taken to the hospital in unstable condition, where he was later upgraded to stable condition. The suspects fled before the police arrived, and it is believed that the 25-year-old woman was forcibly taken away by the suspects.

Police learned Saturday morning that a woman may have been inside an apartment building on College Avenue and that one of the three suspects may have been there. Two suspects, a 46-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, left after police arrived around 3:10 a.m. Saturday.

A woman who was allegedly kidnapped Friday was also present and unharmed, WPS said.

The two suspects stayed inside and refused to come out, WPS Chief Danny Smith said at a news conference Monday. After police used gas to force the suspects out of the room around 9:40 a.m., the suspects fired several shots, including through the door.

The three officers who were shot were in the hallway of the apartment at the time. The suspects also shot at the police car through the window.

The suspect surrendered to police in the hallway around 10:10 a.m., while the other was apprehended hiding in a suite.

A 12-gauge shotgun, a .22-gauge shotgun and assorted ammunition were found in the room.

Jeremy James Caseys, 43, of Winnipeg, faces several criminal offences, including aggravated assault, willful discharge of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, willful disguise and multiple firearm offences. He has been charged in connection with Friday's robbery and remains in custody.

A 50-year-old man, a 46-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman from Winnipeg are facing drug and weapons charges. All three were released.

City police responded to another armed and barricaded incident in Charbonneau Crescent this weekend. Smith said police are trying to arrest the man for a voluntary mental health evaluation. The man did not answer the door, then shouted from the balcony and threatened to shoot himself and the officers, police said.
