The Keewatin Avenue Strip Mall was heavily damaged by the fire

WINNIPEG – An early morning fire caused significant damage to a strip mall in the 1000 block of Keewatin Avenue.

Winnipeg firefighters were called to the scene around 4:43 a.m. Monday to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.

Emergency crews used aerial ladders and cranes to pour water on the fire, while a drone helped direct water jets and spot hot spots.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews are expected to be on site throughout the day to fully extinguish the fire.

No loss estimate is available as the cause is still under investigation.
