Man installs tracking devices on cars at Yorkdale Mall: Police

A Montreal man is facing more than a dozen charges after he was allegedly caught installing a vehicle tracking device at a Toronto mall.

Toronto police say officers were called to the parking lot of Yorkdale Shopping Center for a report of a suspicious incident on Saturday around 3:20 p.m.

Investigators said the man was seen kneeling next to the Range Rover as it drove away. Mall security was notified, who in turn called the police.

Officers found a tracking device in the vehicle and further investigation led police to find a tracking device in another Range Rover in the mall parking lot.

The suspect was arrested at the scene, and the police confiscated the illegal firearm.

Yannis Demmuche, 26, of Montreal, is facing 14 charges, including two counts of criminal harassment and several weapons offenses, police said.

He was scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom Sunday morning.
