RCMP have arrested two people in connection with the kidnapping, and one has been charged with attempted murder

Didsbury RCMP are facing charges after breaking into a gun club. On February 9 around 5am, Didsbury RCMP were dispatched to a break and enter in progress at Silver Willow Farm Sports Club. The complainant, who is an estate agent, was notified by the local security system that two suspects were present at the business. The complainant drove to the business and observed two suspects enter a Volkswagen hatchback and attempt to flee the area. However, the vehicle became stuck and the male suspect got out of the vehicle with a long-barreled firearm, pointed it at the complainant and started running towards the complainant's vehicle. The male suspect then fired at the complainant who was in the vehicle. The complainant was not injured. RCMP responded to the scene and set up a cordon. Assistance was requested from the Emergency Response Team, Police Service Dog Service and Olds and Airdrie RCMP. Residents of the district were placed in shelters. Two suspects were arrested soon after. Kyle Nechiporenko (37) of Calgary was arrested and charged with: Attempted Murder Willful Discharge of a Firearm Failure to Comply with Probation Possession of a Firearm without a License Failure to Comply with a Weapons Prohibition Order Use of Disguise to Commit an Indictable Offense Driving without a Permit driven by Soleil Venas (20) of Calgary was arrested and charged only with: Unlicensed Possession of a Firearm Failure to Comply with Conditions of Release Kyle Nechiporenko and Soleil Venas were jointly charged with: Breaking and entering with intent to steal a firearm Endangering the public peace weapon (bear spray) Use of a firearm in the commission of an indictable offense Use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable offense Theft over $5,000. under $5000 Possess break & enter instruments As a result of the court's temporary release hearing, Nechiporenko was remanded to appear in Alberta Court in Calgary on February 14th at 9:00 a.m. Venas was arrested.
