Calgarians are being charged with breaking and entering

The two men were involved in multiple crimes, including breaking and entering a gun club in Calgary's north side that forced residents of the area to seek shelter for hours.

Just after 5 a.m. on Friday, February 9, Didsbury RCMP were called to a break and enter at Silver Willow Farm Sports Club in Mountain View County.

A 911 caller – a property representative – was notified by the local security system that two people were inside the business.

The deputy went there and found two people in a Volkswagen hatchback and tried to drive away.

But, police said, the car got stuck and the man grabbed a long-barreled gun from the car and pointed it at the complainant before running towards their car.

The suspect then fired at the complainant who was in the vehicle and hit the vehicle.

The 911 caller was not injured.

RCMP responded to the scene and set up a containment, it said Monday, requesting the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, police service dogs and Olds and Airdrie RCMP.

Residents of the district were accommodated in their places.

A short time later, the police arrested two people.

Kyle Nechiporenko, 37, of Calgary, released with intent to commit murder, failure to comply with a firearms probation order, possession of a firearm without a license, and failure to comply with a weapons prohibition order. wearing a mask to commit a culpable offense and driving without a license.

Twenty-year-old Soleil Venas, also of Calgary, was charged with possession of a firearm without a license and failure to comply with conditions of a release order.

The couple were charged together with breaking and entering with intent to steal a firearm, a weapon dangerous to the public peace (bear spray), use of a firearm in the commission of an indictable felony, use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable felony, and theft under $5,000. , has hacking and hacking and entry tools under $5,000.

Nechiporenko was arrested and will appear in court in Calgary on Wednesday, February 14, on the charges.

Venas was also arrested and appeared at Didsbury Crown Court on Monday, February 12.

The pair have been charged with other crimes

Two men arrested Friday for robbing a gun club were found to have committed several other crimes involving golf courses, RCMP said.

The Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) in Cochrane was assigned to investigate on January 30, which eventually identified a man and a woman as suspects.

A VW Jetta was also identified as a suspect in the case.

On February 9, the Cochrane CRU, assisted by other agencies, served a search warrant at a home in northwest Calgary.

The woman was arrested at that time and the stolen property was confiscated by the police.

RCMP say they found laptops, motorcycles, firearms, ID and ID fraud equipment, tools and bicycles, Canadian currency, safes and golf accessories.

In this case, Nechiporenko was charged with attempted murder with a firearm, intentional discharge of a firearm, breaking and entering with intent to steal a firearm, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and use of a weapon with a weapon. criminal mischief, two counts of probation violation, theft under $5,000, damage to property under $5,000, possession of burglary tools, willful concealment, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon while knowing it is prohibited, two counts driving without a license, 11 counts of breaking and entering a business and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Felony theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an offense, theft under $5,000, possession of burglary tools, possession of a firearm knowing that it is prohibited, five counts of failure to comply with a release order , three counts of breaking and entering a business and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both men have been arrested in connection with the case and are scheduled to appear at Didsbury Crown Court on Monday, February 12.

A third woman arrested at her Calgary home has been charged with trespassing and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

He was released on a bond to appear in Cochrane Court on 12 March 2024.
