Two adult women and three children were found dead, RCMP said

Manitoba RCMP have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with two adults and three children found dead on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Police said officers were called to Highway 3 about 6.5 kilometers south of Carman at 7:30 a.m. for a report of a hit-and-run. When police arrived, they found an adult woman dead in a nearby ditch.

At 10:00 a.m. RCMP in Headingley were called to a fire on Highway 248 north of PTH 424 in the RM of Cartier. While the police were on their way, a witness pulled out three children from the burning car. All three children died at the scene.

The suspect was identified and arrested at the scene of the car fire.

As the investigation continued, officers went to a home in Carman and found the body of a second adult woman.

According to the investigators, the man and the five victims were known to each other. The dead are considered suspicious.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
