The Maple Leafs of Rielly will hold a private hearing with NHL player safety on Tuesday

Morgan Rielly will have a private hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Tuesday.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman was disciplined for checking on Ottawa Senators forward Ridley Greig. The date and time of the court session will be determined.

The incident occurred at 19:54 of the third period after Greig's free kick in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Toronto in Ottawa. Rielly received a major penalty for cross-checking and foul play.

If the offense may warrant a suspension of six or more games, the offending player shall be offered an opportunity for a personal hearing. In this case, the player will remain suspended pending a hearing. If the player waives the right to an in-person hearing, the hearing will be conducted by telephone.

The following grounds are being considered for the additional order: peer review. However, the Department of Player Safety reserves the right to amend the violation after review.
